TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, on Wednesday’s revealed there are up to 23.3 million people who have received their Covid-19 shots, to date.

"13.9 million people have received their first shots while 9.3 million people have taken their second jabs,” said Airlangga in a gathering event held virtually on May 19.

The government appointed healthcare workers, workers in public services, and elderly groups as top priority in Indonesia’s initial vaccination program. The inoculation for healthcare workers have even exceeded the initial goal of 1.46 million people. It logged 101,67 percent first dose vaccinations and 92.73 percent for the second dose.

Meanwhile, the government aimed to inoculate 17.3 million workers in the public services sector and currently has completed 55 percent of the goal. Some 9.4 million people got their first shots and 5.9 million has completed the vaccinations (34.57 percent).

Out of the 21.5 million senior citizens, 2.8 million (13.24 percent) have received their first jabs while those participating in the second dose vaccinations only amounted to 1.9 million (8.8 percent).

Moreover, the government has green-lit private sector companies to participate in the ‘gotong royong’ vaccination program, which is a Covid-19 vaccination for employees of private firms. He claimed there are over 25,000 companies in the country employing over 10 million workers who have signed up for the program.
