TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Police announced they had arrested a janitor identified as HL who allegedly posted a brief video content on TikTok insulting Palestinians.

NTB Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Artanto said the individual had been arrested on May 15, 2021, at the region of Ketejer—a western area of the Lombok island.

“The person has been named a suspect of hate speech and under police detention since May 16,” said Artanto in a text message to Tempo on Monday, May 17.

HL posted a 13-second TikTok video of him ranting about Palestine and used swear words in referring to the country. He also called on people to slaughter Palestinian people. HL claimed it was just a rant amid his free time.
