TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Eleven people have been named as suspects for letting people enter Indonesia without going through quarantine. The 11 people had arrived in Soekarno-Hatta International Airport from India on April 21.

"The suspects are Indian nationals and Indonesian citizens," Jakarta Metro Police chief Sr. Comr. Yusri Yunus said in a written statement, Wednesday, April 28.

Five of the suspects are Indian nationals, passengers of AirAsia QZ 988 charter flight flying from Chennai to Soekarno-Hatta. They are charged with evading quarantine.

Two other Indian nationals are non-passengers who helped the five evade quarantine. The other four suspects are Indonesians who also helped the passengers.

Charter Air Asia QZ 988 arrived in Indonesia carrying 132 passengers. "After investigations, we found that eight people did not go to quarantine," Yusri said. Seven of them are Indian, and one is Indonesian.

Yusri said that the Indonesian passenger is being processed by the Jakarta Police. He also said that authorities are still looking for the two Indians who did not go through quarantine.

"The Indian passengers who have been named suspects are now in quarantine at the Holiday Inn in Gajah Mada, West Jakarta," Yusri said.
