TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-run pharmaceutical firm PT Kimia Farma Tbk through its subsidiary PT Kimia Farma Diagnostik along with the police is investigating its employees in the rapid test service in Kualanamu Airport, Medan, who are allegedly using secondhand Covid-19 antigen rapid test kits for customers.

“The actions committed by officers of Kimia Farma Diagnostik Rapid Test service are highly detrimental to the company and are a sharp contrast to the company’s standard operating procedure (SOP), as well as a serious violation,” said Kimia Farma Diagnostik President Director, Adil Fadhilah Bulqini, in a press release today, April 28.

Adil said if the officers are found guilty, Kimia Farma will impose a severe sanction according to applicable regulations.

Besides, the firm will thoroughly evaluate and tighten monitoring of SOP implementation in the field. “To prevent it from recurring,” he added.

North Sumatra Regional Police’s Special Criminal Investigation Directorate arrested four officers of Kimia Farma’s Rapid Test service on April 27, 2021, at Kualanamu Airport, Medan. The four are suspected of using used Covid-19 antigen rapid test kits for all potential passengers. Presently, the four have been taken to and are undergoing questioning at the North Sumatra Police Headquarters.
