TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Jakarta Labor, Transmigration, and Energy Agency, Andri Yansah, on Wednesday said that the agency has taken steps that are hoped to curb the surge of Covid-19 cases coming from office clusters.

“We have reasserted again to all of the company associations to strengthen their internal Covid-19 task forces,” said Andri on Wednesday, May 28.

Andri added that he has communicated this with every association that oversees companies in the capital city and urged them to help the government’s mission to suppress the spread of the coronavirus.

“There needs no in-depth studies as it is clear that the rise in office cluster cases is because of slackened health protocols,” said Andri Yansah who asserts how easy it is to merely implement proper physical distancing, wearing face masks, and washing hands.

However, he acknowledged that health protocols had slackened in comparison to the initial months of the Covid-19 pandemic and attributes this habit to pandemic fatigue. He also suspects many offices are not truly implementing the 50 percent capacity.

Active 425 Covid-19 cases were logged from 177 offices in Jakarta for the past seven days from April 5- April 11, the Jakarta administration reported. This is considered a significant increase compared to the previous week that only logged 157 positive Covid-19 cases from 78 offices.
