TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi said in a press conference on Friday that the Indonesian government hopes that the ASEAN Summit will come up with solutions for the crisis in Myanmar, as the situation is getting worse.

“The commitment for leaders to meet physically reflects the concern for the situation in Myanmar and ASEAN’s determination to help Myanmar out of this complicated matter,” said Retno Marsudi on Friday, April 23.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, during the bilateral meeting with Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, also asserted that Indonesia sides with the public’s safety, ending the armed violence, and establishing an inclusive dialogue to immediately create a resolution for Myanmar.

The Foreign Affairs Minister said talks about the issue will continue in the working dinner event that gathers the foreign affairs ministers of ASEAN members.

The situation in Myanmar has yet improved with reports of the rising death toll and political prisoners. The current death toll of 700 is expected to grow if the crisis does not end soon.
