TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Transportation Agency Head Syafrin Liputo confirmed that people in Jakarta Greater Area (Jabodetabek or Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi) are allowed to travel in the area without an exit and entry permit or SIKM as last year during the ban on Eid homecoming or locally known as mudik.
“In the agglomeration area, SIKM is not required,” said Syafrin at Jakarta City Hall on Monday, April 19, 2021.
With this policy, people in Jabodetabek could still travel as usual without having to present SIKM in the midst of the ban which takes effect from May 6-17.
However, the travel requirement as referred to the Covid-19 Task Force’s Circular No. 13/2021 still applies to travelers entering or leaving Jabodetabek, Syafrin explained.
“Those from outside Jabodetabek willing to enter Jabodetabek are required to bring SIKM,” he remarked.
As previously known, the central government decided to bar this year’s Eid homecoming in consideration of the high rate of Covid-19 transmission, death rate, and hospital bed occupancy rate (BOR).
Last year, the Jakarta government required residents willing to enter and exit the capital during the Eid al-Fitr holidays to present SIKM, which is divided into two types; one-time permit and round-trip permit.
