TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo today, April 19, 2021, monitored the Covid-19 vaccination for artists and cultural practitioners at the National Gallery of Indonesia, Gambir, Jakarta. On this occasion, he again reminded the public of the importance of being aware of virus transmission.
“We have to say it as is that the Covid-19 pandemic still exists and is real in our country. So we have to stay vigilant, eling lan waspodo. Don't be careless, we must not underestimate Covid-19,” said the President as broadcasted via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Monday, April 19.
He asserted that he did not want the curve of transmission rate to rise again due to the public being careless and not alert. Recently, the increase in daily positive cases in the archipelago has decreased to around 5,000 cases.
Jokowi hoped that artists and cultural practitioners who took part in today's national vaccination program could be protected and not exposed to Covid-19 so that they could carry out their activities as normal.
“We hope that as more people receive vaccines, it will curb the spread of Covid-19,” he said.
