TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto claims Indonesia recorded a dropping number of active daily Covid-19 cases for the past consecutive months. He gave credit to the public activity restrictions (PPKM) implemented across a number of regions.

“In Indonesia, we have experienced a downward trend [in coronavirus infection rate],” said Airlangga Hartarto who is also the head of the Covid-19 handling and national economic recovery committee in Wednesday’s webinar on April 7.

The PPKM is the micro-scale social restriction, that was introduced on January 11, 2021, to replace the nationwide PSBB or large-scale social restriction that was implemented in 2020.

Citing the national coronavirus data logger covid19.go.id, Indonesia’s daily active cases once saw a surge on January 30, 2021, with 14,528 cases. However, after the changes were better implemented, the daily cases gradually dropped. It was evident in the February 9 data that recorded 8,700 daily active cases.

The PPKM continues to be implemented to this day with the latest data coming from April 6, 2021, that recorded 4,549 cases.
