TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said the upcoming rate of the Covid-19 vaccination distribution will not be as fast as before as the supply will drop due to an embargo in several vaccine-producing countries.

Many European countries and several countries in Asia, such as India, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, as well as several countries in South America including Brazil saw the third spike of active Covid-19 cases. As a result, countries producing the vaccines at these locations barred exports.

It has affected hundreds of countries in the world including Indonesia. The supply of vaccines available for March and April amounting to 15 million doses each or a total of 30 million doses would be 20 million doses.

“So we rearrange it so that the increase is not as fast as before because the supply of vaccines is decreasing,” said Budi as quoted from the official website of the Health Ministry on Tuesday, April 6, 2021.

He hoped that negotiations could be carried out with Covid-19 vaccine-producing countries. "Hopefully the condition will return to normal in May so that we can hold Covid-19 vaccination at the same rate as before,” said Budi.
