BMKG Predicts Rain for Jakarta Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that rain will shower Jakarta from today noon until the early hours of Tuesday.

During the day, light rain will fall over West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, and the Thousand Islands. East Jakarta will see moderate rain, while South Jakarta will be hit by thunderstorms.

“Be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in the areas of West Jakarta, South Jakarta, East Jakarta, and Central Jakarta during the day and night,” wrote the agency on its official website, Monday, April 5, 2021.

According to the weather forecast, light intensity rain will pour in all areas of Jakarta at night except for the Thousand Islands which has the potential to experience thunderstorms. This weather will continue until dawn, except in South Jakarta which will be cloudy.

For the capital’s neighbors, the BMKG predicts light to moderate intensity rain in Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi. This afternoon, Bogor City, Depok, Bekasi City, and Bekasi Regency are predicted to have light rain, while Bogor Regency will see thunderstorms. At night until dawn, the weather is predicted to be partly sunny to cloudy.

BMKG also warns residents of Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi about the potential for rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds from noon to the afternoon.

For Tangerang, it is forecasted to experience moderate rain this afternoon, cloudy weather at night, and light rain in the early hours of Tuesday.
