TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Airlangga Hartarto, chairman of the Covid-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery Committee, said that the pandemic handling in Indonesia is getting better along with the enforcement of the micro-scale community activity restriction (Micro PPKM) and national vaccinations.

“This is reflected in the recovery rate and active case rate which are better than the global figure and the decrease in the percentage of active cases, the death rate, and the recovery rate after the Micro PPKM policy and the vaccination,” Airlangga said in a webinar on Tuesday, March 30, 2021.

The country recorded 5,008 new confirmed cases on Monday, March 29, 2021. The number of patients recovered was at the same level at 5,418, while there were 132 patients who died. Thus, the cumulative positive cases hit 1,501,093, with 1,336,818 recoveries and 4,0581 deaths.

On the same day, the active cases were recorded at 123,694, dropped by 542 compared to Sunday's data. The authorities have examined 45,933 specimens, and there were 59,473 suspected cases.

“The government continues to mitigate the impact of the pandemic in order to maintain the momentum for health and economic recovery, particularly to increase public confidence in consumption and investment through various strategies in 2021,” Airlangga remarked.

The strategies include accelerating the Covid-19 vaccinations and implementing Micro PPKM in an effort to curb Covid-19 cases by balancing the social and economic aspects.
