TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said on Thursday, March 25, 2021, that the country’s Covid-19 vaccination program still faces a long journey ahead before it is completed. Nevertheless, the President had set a goal to vaccinate 70 percent of Indonesians before the end of this year.

The 70 percent ratio is believed to be the minimum to achieve the herd immunity condition claimed to be able to break the chain of coronavirus infection.

"Our goal is to complete it at the end of this year but only if the vaccinations progress as it is currently held," said the President as he visited the vaccination in Ambon, Maluku, on March 25, 2021.

Previously, President Jokowi would often personally observe numerous vaccination events across the country and is now scheduled to visit the three vaccination locations in Ambon such as the Yos Sudarso harbor, Dr.J. Leimena General Hospital, lastly in the residence of Raja Hitu.

"I convey my appreciation for all of the healthcare workers, vaccinators, who have worked hard every single day serving members of the general public and we do hope that the pandemic would soon reside and national and regional economies would rise again," said President Jokowi.
