TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned commuter line (KRL) operator PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) announced that 10 KRL stations will only receive electronic money transactions.

KRL Vice President for Corporate Secretary Anne Purba, said that the 10 stations will no longer provide the sale of one-day trip tickets (THB) beginning March 25, 2021.

"The special stations only serve transactions using multi-trip tickets [KMT] or other electronic money cards from banks starting Thursday, March 25," said Anne in a written statement on Thursday, March 18, 2021.

The 10 stations are Jakarta Kota, Bekasi, Kranji, Bojonggede, Citayam, Depok, Depok Baru, Parung Panjang, Tanah Abang, and Angke.

However, commuters who have purchased a round-trip one-day ticket could tap in and out in the ten stations.

The cashless translation has been implemented at nine stations, resulting in less queue of passengers at the ticket booth.

According to her, the use of electronic money at 10 stations reached 77.1 percent of all ticket transactions. The number of train passengers in these stations also increased from 95,901 in January to 103,653 in February.

"The implementation of this special electronic money commuter line station also improves services for KRL users and reduces queues at stations," Anne concluded.
