TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government reported the latest data on Covid-19 in the capital. Today, March 16, there were 835 new positive cases.

The Health Agency’s Head of Disease Prevention and Control, Dwi Oktavia, explained that the figure was obtained from the results of PCR swab tests on 14,384 specimens.

“11,795 people were tested for PCR today to diagnose new cases. 835 tested positive while the rest 10,960 turned back negative,” said Dwi in a written statement on Tuesday, March 16.

Throughout January-February 2021, the city’s number of infections per day increased by 2,000 to 3,000. Recently, the trend in daily cases has tended to drop around 1,000-2,000.

With today’s addition, Jakarta’s total confirmed cases reached 362,370. In detail, 5,747 patients are still being treated or undergoing isolation, 6,062 patients died, and 350,561 patients have recovered.

The Jakarta government recorded the death rate of 1.7 percent while the recovery rate stood at 96.7 percent. The Covid-19 positivity rate in the past week, meanwhile, hit 12 percent. “The total positivity rate was 11.2 percent,” Dwi said.
