TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Three Ministers have gathered in a meeting on Wednesday to talk about developing a tourism industry based on preservation of cultural heritage which is prepared to help boost Indonesia’s tourism that had been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Ministers present in the meeting were Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno, SOEs Minister Erick Thohir, and the Education and Culture Minister Nadiem Makarim.

The three Ministers said to journalists present at the meeting that they had agreed to have the cultural heritage-based tourism handled under Minister Nadiem Makarim while Erick Thohir will support the program by opening more job opportunities that will hopefully have an effect on lifting the economy.

They also discussed how to help boost again the existence of two established tourism sites, Raja Ampat and Labuan Bajo.

Minister Nadiem said the education ministry will support the program by providing the needed education facilities in the local surrounding areas of the prioritized tourism sites. Erick Thohir also said that he will back the program to create academic school graduates that are projected to develop this tourism program.
