TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said there is no tolerance for corrupt acts and violations of the code of ethics committed in the ministry. She made the statement in response to the alleged corruption involving employees of the Tax Directorate General.

“We have dismissed employees of the Tax Directorate General suspected by the KPK to be involved in the alleged bribery,” said Sri in an online conference on Wednesday, March 3, 2021.

She explained that this decision was taken to help facilitate the investigation process carried out by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The person concerned, she added, had submitted a resignation letter which was being processed.

“It is hoped that the law enforcement by the KPK will not harm the performance of the Tax Directorate General,” she remarked.

The KPK reportedly named a high-ranking official at the ministry’s Tax Directorate General as a suspect in a bribery case related to the tax payment from a number of companies.

Sri Mulyani earlier considered the alleged bribery treason. “This is clearly a treason and hurts the feelings of all employees, both the Tax Directorate General and all ranks of the ministry throughout the country, who keep adhering to the principles of integrity and professionalism,” she said.
