TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Statistics Indonesia (BPS) on Monday, March 1, reported that Indonesia’s monthly inflation for the past two months had declined while February recorded 0,1 percent inflation.

“The development of commodity prices generally showed a slight increase,” said BPS chief Suhariyanto in a press conference on March 1.

Previously reported, inflation trends continued to grow since the beginning of the IV quarter of 2020, which started in September of 2020 where Indonesia saw a 0.05 percent deflation.

Only in October of 2020 did we see slight inflation of 0.07 percent and climbed to 0.45 percent in December last year.

Entering 2021 this value had dwindled and last recorded an inflation of 0.28 percent in January 2021. February’s inflation this year was also lower than the same period last year which recorded 0.28 percent in February 2020.

Statistics Indonesia said the year-on-year inflation this year (Jan-Feb) is 0.36 percent and is lower than the yearly inflation target set by the State Budget, which was 3 percent.
