TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The businesses hope that the price of the non-subsidized covid-19 vaccine for their workers will not be more than Rp1 million, said the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) chairman.

"The price isn't more than Rp1 million for each dose. But we’re still waiting for the government regulation," Kadin chairman Rosan P. Roeslani said on Friday, Feb. 12.

The number of the recipients registered in the private-vaccine scheme is around 25-30 million people with a total vaccine of around 60 million dosages. Rosan added that national private pharmacies would likely be involved.

According to him, domestic private pharmacies have the potential to import the vaccines for the 'Gotong Royong Vaccination' program, from several global vaccine producers, except Sinovac. The regulation regarding the vaccines imported by national private firms is still under discussion.

Meanwhile, the government’s Gotong Royong Vaccination program is expected to complete by the third week of February 2021.

Therefore, the private vaccination scheme can be started at least in March 2021. This program will use the Sinovac vaccines imported by state-owned pharmacy Bio Farma, as it is the only Covid-19 vaccine in Indonesia that has been granted emergency use authorization by the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM).

"There will be two schemes for Gotong Royong Vaccination; the first will collaborate with SOE, or in this case, Bio Farma. And the next one is if [private companies are] allowed to import [vaccines],” Rosan explained.
