TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria confirmed that the implementation of extended Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in the capital city would follow the central government’s enforcement of the micro-scale Community Activity Restriction or Micro PPKM.

“[The rules in] our PSBB will follow the central government's policy,” said Riza at the City Hall on Monday, February 8.

The extended PSBB which would be valid until February 22 loosened several restrictions. The business sector was allowed to open at 50 percent capacity from initially 25 percent. Workplaces could also adopt the work-from-home policy at 50 percent from previously 75 percent.

Additionally, shopping centers or malls and restaurants were allowed to operate until 9 p.m., from previously restricted until 7 p.m. “We follow the policies set by the central government.”

According to Riza, the relaxed restrictions were determined through various considerations and comprehensive studies. In the enforcement of Micro PPKM, the central government urged local administrations to closely monitor villages or subdistricts at high risk of Covid-19 transmission or red zones.

The policies had been implemented in Jakarta since June 4, 2020, Riza claimed. The capital city had applied a strict control area or WPK along with the PSBB enforcement.

“We have established Kampung Siaga, Kampung Aman, Kampung Tangguh. All neighborhood units and community units (RT-RW) in Jakarta have their task force since last year in June,” Riza Patria said, related to the Micro PPKM.
