TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Director-General of Budgeting at the Finance Ministry, Askolani, confirmed that the financial incentives for health workers in 2021 would be in the same amount as the stimulus in 2020.

“We are sure that there has been no change in the incentive policy for healthcare workers. Thus the amount of 2021 incentive is the same as that given in 2020,” he said in a video conference on Thursday, February 4.

According to Askolani, as the 2021 State Budget was implemented, the amount of the stimulus and death benefits for medical professionals must be re-established according to the state financial scheme. “The implementation must be decided.”

With the national vaccination program, the government considered providing incentives for those who also act as vaccinators.

Askolani ensured that the government would consistently prioritize and support healthcare workers on the front lines in handling Covid-19. Thus, he rebuffed reports that financial incentives for them would be cut by 50 percent this year.

“With the high dynamic development of Covid-19, the budget to support [health workers] will continue to be reviewed and adjusted in response to the handling of Covid-19 solidly and comprehensively,” he said.
