TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Health Agency reported that as of Friday, January 29, a total of 53,210 residents have received the vaccine in the government's phase 1 of Covid-19 vaccination which kicked off January 14.

“In phase 1, the vaccines are for health workers as they are at the forefront of the fight against the virus with a target of 131,000 people. We are eyeing to complete it in February,” said the agency’s Head of Disease Prevention and Control Unit, Dwi Oktavia, in a written statement.

Dwi explained that they would get the second inoculation beginning today. As of this morning, 2,449 healthcare workers have received the final shot of CoronaVac produced by China-based pharmaceutical firm Sinovac.

The vaccine should be given in two doses of 0.5-milliliter vaccine at an interval of 14 days. The Jakarta administration had set up 508 medical facilities for the service and deployed 1,648 qualified vaccinators.

Dwi underlined that the Covid-19 vaccination is part of the efforts to end the pandemic.

“Besides getting the Covid-19 vaccine, applying the health protocols and implementing 3M of wearing face masks, washing hands, and maintaining distance, as well as avoiding crowds, are still necessary,” Dwi said.
