TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Consortium for Research and Innovation on Covid-19 at the Ministry of Research and Technology is developing a device to measure the levels of antibody of an individual who had received the Covid-19 vaccine.

"For the vaccination, we are planning to support the vaccination program through efforts or by creating kits to measure levels of antibody before and after vaccination," said Minister of Research and Technology and Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency Bambang Brodjonegoro in a National Coordination Meeting for Research and Innovation in Serpong on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.

Minister Bambang said that it is important to know whether after the vaccination, the antibody are present, and does it continues to exists after six months or one year after vaccination.

If the antibody is no longer exists after a certain period, then the Minister suggest for another vaccination to maintain the creation of antibody to fight against Covid-19.

"If there is none (antibody) then certainly there has to be a re-vaccination or booster, and it can only be detected if we develop the test kit, and it is being developed within the ministry," Bambang said.

The development of a device to measure levels of antibody of Covid-19 vaccine recipient is being carried out by the Eijkman Institute of Molecular Biology and the Technology Studies and Implementation Agency. The device is considered to be important to support the Covid-19 vaccination and mitigation program.
