TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - The Indonesian government opened the possibility of extending the Java - Bali Islands public activity restriction (PPKM), which is another term for social restriction , as the country continues to log a high number of Covid-19 cases.
The first PPKM social restriction was due on January 25, 2021, but Coordinating Ministry of Maritime and Investments spokesperson Jodi Mahardi said to Tempo today “Every option is being considered.”
He implied that people’s mobilization has yet to be reduced even after the PPKM was implemented for 10-days which caused high numbers of daily confirmed cases.
He said that the government could only manage to reduce 15-25 percent of cases in affected provinces which is far from its goal of suppressing 30-40 percent of cases.
