TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo, or Jokowi, took to Instagram on Thursday to congratulate Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on their inauguration as United States President and Vice President.
The President’s latest post was accompanied by a caption which reads: “Congratulations @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris on the inauguration as the 46th President and 49th. Vice President of the United States.”
Moreover, Jokowi hopes that the bilateral partnership between the two countries will strengthen as the new leaders of the United States have been inaugurated. “Not just for the benefit or our two nations but for a better world for all.”
Joe Biden was sworn in as president of the United States on Wednesday, offering a message of unity and restoration to a deeply divided country reeling from a battered economy and a raging coronavirus pandemic.
He also marks the oldest president to take office at the age of 78 while VP Kamala Harris officially becomes United States’ first female and African American Vice President.
