Jokowi Promises Covid-19 Vaccination, to Continue Social Aid in 2021

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi said the government plans to carry out the Covid-19 vaccination this year, adding that the state has secured vaccine supplies from Sinovac, Novavax, AstraZeneca, and BioNTech-Pfizer.
“This year, if nothing gets in the way, the government will inject Covid-19 vaccine to the people,” the president said on his Instagram post @jokowi, on Friday, January 1, 2021.
He previously claimed that the vaccination will be held by middle January 2021, and said that he would be the first person to receive the first shot.
The Indonesian Government has logged Sinovac vaccines in a total of 3 million doses which was sent in two batches; the first on December 6 and the second on December 31, 2020.
Jokowi also said that the Covid-19 social assistance program carried out in 2020 will continue in 2021 to help the society highly in need of aids.
The president said 2020 has given us valuable lessons, in addition to the countless sacrifices. Therefore, he added, Indonesia is now better prepared to face 2021. “We’ll get through these hard moments and rise to Indonesia that we aspire to,” Jokowi remarked.
