Christmas and New Year Holiday; Jakarta Closes 41 Destinations, Public Places

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta provincial government closes a number of tourist destinations and public spaces during Christmas and New Year holidays, as a means to avoid crowds and contain the spread of Covid-19. Those places are closed on Christmas Day, December 25, December 31, 2020, and January 1, 2021.

Jakarta public order enforcers (Satpol PP) chief, Arifin, said the officers will stand by and patrol in a number of locations that are potential for crowds. “Everyone, businesses, and event organizers are banned to do activities that trigger a crowd of more than five people,” Arifin said in Jakarta, Thursday, December 24.

The following is the list of public spaces and destinations in the city that are closed during the year-end holiday:

Kota Tua (Jakarta Old Town)

Gelora Bung Karno (GBK stadium)
