BMKG Warns of Potential Heavy Rain in Java until Papua

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicted moderate to heavy rain across Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020.

According to the agency's statement, moderate to heavy intensity of rain potentially showers parts of Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Jambi, Bengkulu, South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, and Lampung regions.

Several areas of Banten, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, and East Java were also estimated to see rainfall with moderate to heavy intensity.

In Kalimantan, moderate to heavy rains were predicted to cover parts of West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, and North Kalimantan.

Meanwhile in Sulawesi, moderate to heavy rain was expected to wet some areas of North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, and South Sulawesi.

The potential for moderate to heavy rain was also forecasted to occur in parts of Maluku, North Maluku, Papua, and West Papua. While, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, and East Nusa Tenggara were predicted to be showered with moderate rain.

Apart from these said areas, today’s weather was expected to be cloudy and light rain, as noted in the BMKG’s weather forecast.
