TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of the Jakarta Health Agency’s Disease Prevention and Control Unit, Dwi Oktavia, said there were 1,232 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, 11 December 2020. The figure came from the results of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests performed on 11,895 residents aimed at finding new cases in the capital.

“The number of active cases as of today reached 11,803 patients, who remain in treatment or isolation,” she said in a written statement this afternoon.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Jakarta to date has hit 150,250 cases, of which 135,545 patients were declared cured with a recovery rate of 90.2 percent, while 2,902 patients died with a fatality rate of 1.9 percent.

“Indonesia’s fatality rate, meanwhile, is presently at 3.1 percent,” she said.

According to the agency, the capital’s positivity rate during the week is 9.2 percent, while the total positivity rate is 8.3 percent. The figure is still above WHO’s standard of below 5 percent.

The Jakarta administration has performed PCR tests on 169,384 residents per 1 million residents on average. The number of those given the tests during the week, Dwi said, reached 90,402 residents.
