BMKG Weather Report Warns of Intensified Rainy Season

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) on Tuesday’s weather report announced that the 61 percent areas in Indonesia has entered the rainy season and warns the public to prepare for the peak rainy season in the coming months.

The rainy season in most of Indonesian regions is predicted to continue up to April next year with rain intensity accumulation up to its highest level of >300mm/month in December-January.

According to the agency, areas experiencing increased rain activities include Aceh, Sumatra, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, parts of East Java, Sulawesi, up to West Papua.

Meanwhile, the weather anomaly caused by the La Nina storm over the Pacific Ocean remains to be moderate and is forecasted to peak between January - March 2021 and weaken as May arrives.
