Sri Mulyani Says Govt Spent Rp637 Billion for COVID-19 Vaccine Program

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati on Monday announced that the Health Ministry has already spent a budget up to Rp637.3 billion for the procurement of the COVID-19 vaccine, which is used to pay for the 3 million vaccine doses from Sinovac Biotech and 100 thousand from Cansino.

“The Sinovac vaccine is scheduled to arrive in December and will certainly run as planned,” said Sri Mulyani in a video conference on December 7.

The health ministry, said the minister, has also spent Rp277.45 of the country’s state budget to purchase supporting equipment for the vaccination program such as medical syringes, swab alcohols, and safety boxes.

Other state expenses include purchases on the cooling facilities for the COVID-19 vaccines which include its temperature monitor devices, vaccine carriers, and PPE (personal protection equipment). The state minister also announced that funds have been allocated for healthcare unit networks across Indonesia which are involved in commencing the future nationwide vaccination program.

Sri Mulyani previously announced that the government has up to Rp35.1 trillion vaccination program reserves for the 2020 budgeting, which include the procurement of the Sinovac Biotech vaccines arriving in Indonesia on Sunday night.
