TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Eleven Indonesian provinces have reached the target of 1,000 PCR (polymerase chain reaction) examinations per week, in accordance with WHO standards, the Task Force for Handling COVID-19 reported.

“This is the data as of November 28, 2020. So, we have seen this in the past week,” head of data and information technology at the COVID-19 task force, Dr. Dewi Nur Aisyah, said at an online press conference originating from Graha BNPB Jakarta on Wednesday.

She said that in the past week, 11 provinces have met the target set by the WHO for PCR examinations, which is over 1,000 tests per week.

DKI Jakarta, she said, has even reached 7,100 examinations a week, which is seven times higher than the WHO standard.

Besides DKI Jakarta, East Kalimantan, Riau, West Papua, West Sumatra, Papua, North Sulawesi, Yogyakarta, Bali, Central Java, and South Kalimantan have reached the testing target.

In addition, 13 other provinces have achieved more than 50 percent of the testing target prescribed by the WHO, the COVID-19 task force reported.

Among the provinces are North Maluku, Banten, Central Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, East Java, West Java, Maluku, South Sulawesi, Bangka Belitung Islands, Riau Islands, South Sumatra, and North Kalimantan.

However, 10 provinces have achieved less than 50 percent of the WHO target, the task force noted. The 10 provinces are Jambi, Gorontalo, Lampung, Bengkulu, Aceh, Southeast Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), and Central Sulawesi.
