TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) held a Tactical Floor Game (TGF) as a part of mitigation efforts to tackle flooding in Jakarta.
The agency head Doni Monardo underlined that flooding potentially hit the capital city, especially in the riverbank of Ciliwung River and its surroundings due to the La Nina phenomenon.
“TFG is a very strategic step to carry out because Ciliwung River passes through the capital, the center of government. The river also crosses several districts or cities, and is one of the famous rivers in Indonesia,” said Doni in Jakarta, Monday, Nov. 30.
According to him, Ciliwung River has not been monitored well and optimally since there were still piles of trash along the river flow.
While in fact, the waste could obviously cause water inundation when high-intensity rain showers the city. Besides, Ciliwung River is the main source of the public need for clean water, Doni added.
The Tactical Floor Game (TGF) agenda was attended by cross-government institutions, including Coordinating Minister Luhut Pandjaitan, Social Minister Juliari Batubara, the BMKG Head Dwikorita Karnawati, and officials of Jakarta and neighboring regions.
