TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Low-cost carrier Wings Air, a member of Lion Air Group, announced that its two flights were canceled as a result of the eruption of Mount Ili Lewotolok, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

The airline spokesman Danang M. Prihantoro said based on notice to airmen (Notam), Wonopito Airport in Lewoleba was closed beginning November 29 at 12:58 until 16:00 Central Indonesian Time (WITA).

“Due to the condition and as to ensure the safety and security, Wings Air’s plan to launch new flights scheduled on Nov 30 is canceled. They are flights number IW-1994 connecting Kupang-Lewoleba and IW-1995 connecting Lewoleba-Kupang,” said Danang in a press release on Monday, Nov. 30.

He added that the operational disruption due to a mountain eruption was a force majeure, which is a situation that occurs beyond the capabilities of human resources and companies.

Wings Air had announced the information to all customers affected by the natural disaster and updated it based on the situation developments. Customers, Danang added, were allowed to ask for a reschedule on the next day and file a refund according to applicable rules.
