TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The year-end holiday and collective leave in December 2020 will soon arrive with many people already planning their holidays and most would probably stay home due to the coronavirus-stricken year.

Travel-app PegiPegi conducted a survey about the year-end holidays and the behavior of Indonesians regarding it which was done from November 9 - November 16 involving 1,490 respondents spread nationwide.

According to the survey there are 75 percent Indonesians planning to go on a vacation during the holidays which annually takes place from December 24 - January 1, 2021. The survey in October found hotel and flight bookings had grown two-folds compared to new normal regular days.

This goes parallel with the study report on people’s desire to travel by the end of 2020, which Pegi-Pegi had predicted will reflect people’s intention to travel and go on a vacation in December.

A number of factors are believed to be motivating people to travel again, one of which is the health protocol obedience which scored 66 percent and the trust people have with tourist destinations’ health protocol obedience scoring 65 percent.

31 percent of respondents also believe they are healthy enough to travel and that they need a chance to go on a vacation following lengthy home-quarantine during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Out of the available transportations, the PegiPegi survey found many (45 percent) prefer to travel on land with personal vehicles.
