TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s number of new daily cases of COVID-19 significantly increased today, November 13, 2020. The virus mitigation task force confirmed the all-time daily high of 5,444 new positive infections.

The additional cases pushed the country’s total tally to 457,735, marking the record of the largest number for a one-day hike. As of yesterday, November 12, the task force discovered 4,173 new cases.

Meanwhile, the number of recoveries was still stagnant at about three thousand. Today’s figure saw 3,010 recovered patients, driving the total recovery to 385,094 cases.

The task force also logged 104 new deaths related to the coronavirus disease, bringing the fatality to 15,037 cases.

The task force explained the findings were collected from 42,333 specimens. The data also broke the record for the previous highest new cases in a single day of 4,850 on October 8, 2020.

During the long holidays from late October to early November, the number of additional cases of COVID-19 plunged. The task force said it was allegedly due to decreased lab capacity and tests.

However, after that, the number of COVID-19 positive cases continued to climb up to around four thousand and broke a new record today.
