TEMPO.CO, Bandung - West Java provincial government held random rapid tests of Covid-19 in 15 tourism areas during the long weekend holiday. As many as 408 of 14,000 people who were tested showed reactive results.

“Not a hundred percent of the tests turned back positive,” said West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil in Bandung, Monday, November 2, 2020.

Based on the map of the Covid-19 risk zone in the province, Kamil said Bekasi City was categorized as a red zone of high virus transmission. A few weeks ago, Depok was classified as a red zone.

Despite the zone category, Bekasi City ranked first in terms of handling the virus. The assessment was based on the region’s testing capacity, tracing, treatment, hospital capacity, prevention measures, and management.

Bogor City ranked second, followed by Cimahi City, Bandung City, and Cirebon City. “ I hope other regions keep improving their performances in controlling Covid-19,” the governor said.

West Java Health Agency Head Berli Hamdani said attractions that were crowded with tourists during the previous long holiday were Puncak in Bogor, Pangandaran Beach, Sukabumi, and Cianjur.

“We are conducting epidemiological investigations using a google form,” said Berli.

According to Berli, the majority of the 408 tourists reactive to Covid-19 rapid tests were residents from outside West Java. “Most of them are from Jakarta. They mostly flock the Puncak area.”
