TEMPO.CO, Paris - Tasikmalaya Regency is currently studying the plan to build an integrated geopark at Mount Galunggung which is the potential for a new tourist destination.

“[We’re] still studying the plan,” said the acting chief of Tasikmalaya Regency tourism and culture department, Nana Heryana, Friday, October 30.

The construction of the long-planned geopark is targeted to finish in two to three years and it is hoped to be able to boost tourist visits to Tasikmalaya.

According to Nana, the future Galunggung geopark will further develop various natural potential such as rock cliffs, volcanic crater, natural hot spring, and waterfalls.

“So, all of the potentials there would be developed, such as the waterfalls, hot spring, crater, those are the attractiveness [of Galunggung],” Nana said.

The integrated Galunggung geopark will boost other tourism sectors, among others is the agro-tourism, in the Tasikmalaya Regency. Other potentials like farming business or many other industries that have selling values and are profitable for the people will also be developed.
