TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The demand for various household appliances has increased during the Covid-19 pandemic. According to Samsung Electronics Indonesia's product marketing manager home, Hendry Wijaya, popular items are refrigerators, air purifiers, washing machines, and vacuum cleaners.

"In terms of sales, many are looking for large-capacity refrigerators," said Hendry Wijaya in a virtual press conference launching a number of appliances on Tuesday, October 27.

This, he said, is due to the need of storing plenty of food to minimize going out for shopping because of the health risks in regards to the pandemic. He also said that because of Covid-19 people now tend to buy groceries in bulks.

Meanwhile, air purifiers, washing machines, and vacuum cleaner are appliances that support a healthy lifedata-style at home. "Since all activities are now done at home, including learning and working, the public has become more attentive to health, comfort and cleanliness," said Hendry.

Meanwhile, Lazada Indonesia's Vice President Marketing, Sawitri Hertoto, said that most sales during the Covid-19 pandemic were drinking bottles, tumblers, or other drinking containers that can maintain a certain temperature, plus pots, pans, and lunch boxes.

"The many purchases of these household items shows that people now like to cook and bring food from home," she said on Tuesday, October 27.
