Indonesia Covid-19 Cases Surpass 400,000 with 4,029 New Infections Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The number of Covid-19 positive cases in Indonesia keeps rising. Based on the government’s data as of Wednesday, October 28, at 12 p.m., there are 4,029 new infections in the last 24 hours.

The additional cases thus push the country’s total tally to 400,483, calculated since the announcement of the first cases of the disease on March 2, 2020.

There are also 3,545 more patients declared to have recovered. As of today noon, the total recovery reaches 325,793, following the results of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) examination which turned back negative for the coronavirus disease.

Meanwhile, 100 more patients succumbed to the illness. Today’s fatality number brings the accumulated death to 13,612 individuals.

The data was presented by the national Covid-19 mitigation task force and could be accessed via its official page Covid19.go.id.

Previously, the spokesperson of the task force Wiku Adisasmito appealed to the public to implement the predetermined health protocol during the celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday and the collective leave days from October 28 to November 1, 2020.

"We ask people who celebrate the Prophet's birthday at their homes while maintaining the health protocol," Wiku said.
