TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto confirmed that micro-, small-, and medium-scale enterprises (MSME) will be able to avail free halal certification as stipulated in the omnibus law on job creation.

"MSME will especially be able to avail (halal certification) free of charge," Hartarto noted at a webinar here on Saturday.

Issues pertaining to halal certification will be regulated in a Government Regulation (PP).

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati remarked that the policy of free-of-charge halal certification for MSME was aimed at easing the burden on enterprises.

"We are currently preparing a Finance Minister’s Regulation, or PMK, which is in line with the omnibus law on job creation on the extension of institutions to conduct halal certification," she remarked.

Vice President Ma'ruf Amin had earlier encouraged SMEs in Indonesia to be part of the global halal industry chain to spur its growth and boost economic resilience.

The government has simplified and accelerated the licensing process and facilitated halal certification for MSME. It has also facilitated MSME to use a digital platform for marketing, he remarked.
