TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Marine Colonel Aris Mudian, spokesperson of the Wisma Atlet emergency hospital in Kemayoran, reported there are 77 new COVID-19 patients being isolated at the hospital’s Tower 4 and 5.

“The number of patients without symptoms as of today 8 a.m. increases from 1,115 to 1,192,” said Aris in a written statement on Friday, October 23. The figure consisted of 643 men and 549 women, he added.

From September 15 to date, 11,193 asymptomatic carriers are isolated at Wisma Atlet. Of which, 10,103 patients have made recoveries, two patients were referred to other hospitals, and the rest are still being quarantined.

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan previously announced that patients who are presenting mild symptoms or asymptomatic must undergo isolation at the government facilities. However, those who are living in a large home are allowed to self-isolate at their place.

The city administration is coordinating with the central government following the declining number of vacant hospital beds for isolation purposes. Thus, Tower 4 and 5 of the Wisma Atlet emergency hospital were opened to meet the increasing need. The government is also partnering with hotels to serve as isolation centers.
