TEMPO.CO, Bekasi - Bekasi city administration recorded that since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, a total of 184 health workers tasked at government-owned medical facilities were exposed to the coronavirus disease.

“90 percent of the medical personnel who contract the virus have made recoveries now,” said Bekasi Health Agency Head, Tanti Rohilawati, on Wednesday, October 22, 2020.

Tanti outlined that 111 of the total workers were from 43 community health centers or Puskesmas, 71 workers served in three general hospitals and dr. Chasbullah Abdulmadjid referral hospital, and two others worked at the emergency hospital of Patriot Stadium.

“They are asymptomatic carriers (OTG),” she added.

Tanti acknowledged that medical workers were prone to get infected with the new coronavirus as they made direct contacts with patients or the public in general. Thus, she underlined the priority of COVID-19 vaccination for frontline workers.

“Health workers are forced to provide medical services to the community,” she said.

Bekasi administration via corona.bekasikota.go.id noted 5,444 COVID-19 cases with 134 fatalities. The current active cases are 686. The city is now classified as an orange zone with a medium risk of virus transmission.
