TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesia United Workers Confederation (KPBI) announced it would stage yet another protest against the passing of the Omnibus Law on Job Creation on Tuesday, October 20.

KPBI head of women labor department Dian Septi said tomorrow’s protest would demand President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo revoke the omnibus law by issuing a regulation in lieu of law (perpu).

“The KPBI announced that there would be a protest on October 20 to demand President Jokowi issue a Perpu to annul the Job Creation Law,” says Dian in today’s virtual press conference.

She also called on authorities to refrain from using coercive force in the protest rally that would head to the State Palace in Central Jakarta at 10:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).

“I ask them not to ignite a riot or provoke [protesters],” she firmly said. “The government issued the Job Creation Law amid the pandemic but is repressive when it is rejected [by members of the public].”

Dian explained the KPBI had not planned to file a judicial review at the Constitutional Court (MK) as they believed the law itself was unconstitutionally created by the House of Representatives (DPR) and the government.
