Prabowo-Mark Esper Meeting Scheduled for Mid-October

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Defense Minister's spokesperson Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak confirmed on Thursday, October 8, 2020, that Minister Prabowo Subianto had been invited by US defense secretary Mark Esper to travel to the United States on October 15 until October 19, 2020.
"This invitation is a follow up on the detailed discussion on the bilateral partnership in defense," said Dahnil in a written statement on Thursday, October 8, 2020. "Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto will fulfill the invitation."
Dahnil also explained that Prabowo had been actively engaged in defense diplomacy with a number of countries including the United States of America, which he claims to align with Indonesia's principle in maintaining relations with other countries without being affiliated with any of them.
As previous reports have stated, Prabowo was once barred from entering the United States in regard to the state minister's past on human rights violations. Dahnil however, did not provide an answer when asked about how Prabowo was able to be granted a visa.
Prabowo has been frequently communicating with US representatives after welcoming Pentagon representative James H. Anderson in September.
