TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Administration and the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) are currently formulating the COVID-19 draft bylaws or Raperda.

The latest updates on the formulation suggests that DPRD legislative factions have expressed their views about the bylaws while Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, represented by Deputy Minister Ahmad Riza Patria, had responded to the views.

The COVID-19 Raperda will be the legal basis for future policies related to the mitigation of the coronavirus pandemic and the implementation of the health protocols.

“The regional regulation is meant to prevent the spread and infection of the virus and protect the public’s health,” as written in a point of the bylaw’s Article 3.

Several aspects contained in the bylaws include prohibiting people from rejecting the government's attempt on contact tracing, treating, vaccinating and other health interventions; falsifying health checks and hiding personal health records, especially if they have been tested positive for the virus.

Refusing to undergo swab tests, rapid tests, and other forms of tests will be prohibited. People will also be banned from hampering or threatening any health workers that are handling cases related to the coronavirus.
