TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria asserted that the government allows people to implement independent isolation at home under strict conditions.

This policy is stated in the Governor’s Decree No. 980 of 2020 concerning the procedure for controlled isolation management as part of the coronavirus disease or Covid-19 mitigation.

“People who are infected with Covid-19 and presenting mild symptoms or those asymptomatics are allowed to carry out self-isolation at their homes under several conditions,” said Riza in a voice recording released by Jakarta Public Relations on Thursday, October 1, 2020.

Additionally, officers both from neighboring residents and health workers will be deployed to supervise them.

“People who are living in narrow, small houses will not be permitted [to self-isolate,” said Riza, adding that they will be taken to Wisma Mandiri isolation center in Kemayoran or Wisma Atlet Jakarta and other locations that were being prepared in Taman Mini, Ragunan, and Jakarta Islamic Center.

Riza went on to say that Covid-19 asymptomatic carriers whose houses meet the predetermined requirements, such as homes with large areas, clean, and based on the health protocol standards will be permitted for independent quarantine by themselves.

“We continue to prepare and set up [isolation centers] in the three locations,” Ahmad Riza said.
