TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Research conducted by the United States (US) Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reveals there are three places with the highest risk of Covid-19 transmission as quoted from the Health page on September 21, 2020.

“It (the study) shows the odds of risk of different types of situations. Coming right out at you from the figure is restaurants, bars, and gyms,” said Anthony Fauci, an immunologist and the world's leading infectious disease expert, citing the study results.

The research concluded that 7.8 percent of people tested positive for the new coronavirus had worked out at gyms in the past two weeks, 8.5 percent had visited bars, and 40.9 percent of positive patients had dinners in restaurants.

Restaurants and bars are generally closed spaces with poor ventilation. Moreover, people will surely have close contact with waiters or other staff members there, touch goods such as menus or plates, and put off their face masks when having their meals.

Additionally, there may not be enough space to maintain distance from each other. Those definitely increase the risk of virus spread.

Fitness fanatics are also advised to avoid going to the gym during the pandemic given the closed spaces, the possibility of people who are not wearing face masks while exercising, and poor ventilation. Gym equipment can also be a medium of virus transmission, no matter how careful people get.

It is highly recommended to wear face masks at all times, especially when meeting people, which is advisable to be outdoors or in good ventilated areas, and practice good hygiene and a healthy lifedata-style.
