TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Covid-19 mitigation task force spokesperson, Wiku Adisasmito, revealed there was a spike in the number of death cases in the past week. As many as 80 percent of the case fatality rate was at the age above 45.

“People in this age group must maintain their health and not do out-of-home activities as much as possible,” said Wiku via a broadcast of Presidential Secretariat’s Youtube account on Thursday, September 17, 2020.

Wiku explained that the average death cases were 105, rose by 25 percent when compared to the previous week.

“In the percentage, the average death rate also increased from three percent last week to seven percent this week. This means that since September, the mortality rate due to Covid-19 needs to really be addressed,” Wiku underlined.

The active cases, meanwhile, were dominated by patients at productive ages at 55 percent, Wiku added.

“It is also vital for people in this age group to maintain stamina, not being careless when carrying out activities outside the home, and always take care of family members, especially those who are at risk [of virus transmission],” he said.
