Oblivious Cyclists Group Ride in Toll Road; Operator Jasa Marga Responds

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-run toll road operator Jasa Marga together with police are currently investigating the group of cyclists that entered the KM 46+500 Jagorawi toll road section on Sunday noon, September 13.

Based on toll road officials at the location during the incident, the cyclists entered the Jagorawi section and even crossed between toll road lanes to enter the opposite toll road section, which presents a severe traffic hazard.

Jasa Marga Metropolitan toll road Regional Division general manager, Oemi Vierta Moerdika, regrets that the incident took place which endangers not only the cyclists themselves but mainly rightful toll road users.

“[The cyclists] can be handed legal actions overseen by the regulation,” said Moerdika.

Government’s law No.15/2005 clearly states that toll roads are only meant for operations of motorized vehicles with four wheels and more.
